Welcome!
Determination is defined as the firmness of purpose and resoluteness.
My name is Meghan Grijalva and I have the determination to set and attain goals for all of my days. Since a young age, I've had a drive for competition, teaching others, and making people smile. I am far from perfect, learn from my mistakes, and find purpose in giving all that I have each and every day.
I am the 3rd of 4 girls.....sorry Dad! We grew up in what once was a small, quiet, country town in the Central Valley- Tracy,CA. I have two of the most hardworking, encouraging, energetic parents who molded me into who I am today....thanks Mom and Dad=) As a mother myself, I can only hope to be half the parent to my daughter and son as they were to Catie, Carol, Mallie, and last but not the least, Me.
My children and their father are my driving force! I wake up and give my all not only for myself, but for them in hopes I show them anything is possible as long as you work hard, have the passion, set the bar high, and dream big. If I can instill those qualities in them, I've done my job.
With the will to learn, once having graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Sociology and hanging up my glove and cleats from the sport I loved and lived by, the quest to become a Dental Hygienist had begun. Playing softball for seventeen years, I developed skills that would contribute to the success of a hygienist as part of a dental team. I utilized my leadership skills on and off the field working one on one with some of the most motivating individuals within a new up and coming practice to achieve success in completing the prerequisites for the DH program. While enrolled in school part-time, I was anxious to gain knowledge in private practice, not only to confirm my interest in dental hygiene, but to understand the roles of all members of a dental team.
As an aspiring dental hygienist and mother of two, I understand the importance of good oral care and nutritional choices starting at a young age. I look forward to being an advocate to friends, family, and those who I will encounter on my journey ahead to motivate and introduce these aspects into their daily routines.
Hello Term Two!!!!! We will have the luxury of learning a crucial course this term- Dental Hygiene Care for Patients with Special Needs. I am anxious to gain all the knowledge I can about the autoimmune disease, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus as my Father has recently been diagnosed with this condition. In presenting to my fellow classmates of COHORT 13, I hope they can take away some of the many effects this disease may have on our dental hygiene patients.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about Me!
Until next time=)
